Today Labs launched publicly today. The company builds AI infrastructure and products for the organizations and businesses that need them most, and works across two groups: operations-heavy companies that want their back office automated and the systems left in their hands, and the nonprofits, funders and social services whose work people depend on.
The thesis is about where technology goes, and where it does not. Frontier tools move first to the industries where capital already flows. They arrive last in the sectors that hold up human life, in health, education and social services, in the businesses operating across them, and in the emerging economies that hold much of the world's future. Those are the places asked to scale without the tools everyone else takes for granted. AI is the first technology cheap and capable enough to change that, and the company was built to close the gap while it is still open.
The data supports the shape of the problem. In its analysis of Anthropic's Economic Index, published in March 2026, Today Labs found that the social sector is already reaching for AI: it now appears in roughly 31 percent of the tasks done across the sector. Yet the whole sector accounts for about 1.8 percent of AI use in the economy, against 43.5 percent for software. The appetite is there. The infrastructure to carry mission-critical work is not.
Today Labs works in three steps, in that order. It embeds with a team to learn the work before proposing anything. It automates the slow parts, meaning intake, review, routing and reporting. Then it builds what does not exist yet, on the client's stack and owned by the client. The company describes itself as operator and maker: it builds inside the organizations it serves, and it builds products of its own.

The method came out of the founders' own company. After bringing technical people onto their team, Ziyaan Virji and Zohra Dewji automated work that had taken two full-time people 320 hours a month down to under ten. The systems the company sells are the systems it runs.
I have spent nine years inside this sector, starting at fifteen with a menstrual health project and ending up running a platform used in 165 countries. The constraint was never ambition. It was that the tools everyone else takes for granted never showed up here. AI is here now, and it can carry far more than most people realize. I care about this because I have been on the other side of it, trying to run something serious without the infrastructure to do it properly.
The company runs its own platform, Leaders of Today, an AI-native youth platform with more than 38,000 unique youth users across 165 countries that puts scholarships, fellowships and grants in front of young people. Alongside it, Today Labs has eight projects in progressacross healthcare, global education, policy research, children's services, foundations and operations-heavy business. Clients are not named at their request.
I came from RBC, where I worked on the bank's mobile app and its earliest AI initiatives. You learn what it takes to build something millions of people quietly depend on. When I moved over to this work, the gaps were obvious straight away. The problems are the same problems and the discipline is the same discipline. What was missing is that nobody had pointed it at these organizations yet. That is the whole opportunity.

Co-founder and COO of Today Labs, where she leads product delivery and operations. She came to this work from inside one of North America's largest institutions: at RBC she worked on the bank's mobile app and its earliest AI initiatives, building technology that millions of people quietly depend on every day.
